My life has been making me a madman lately with business, personal projects & National Moth Week, still I manage to explore local Jersey. Saw a Great Blue Heron looking for a mate, Caterpillars chewing on plants, beetles mating on plants and various other insects.

Yesterday I made my way down Rt.130 to the Plainsboro Preserve. This is a regular stop for me, when I'm off looking for insects and things to photograph.

There were a large number of Tree Swallow preforming in the sky above, but this one was a bit of a home body. Even the Tiger Beetles let me get closer than usual.

The best part of the day was dodging dragonflies that were zipping all over the trails. Very few were sitting still but this young Common Green Darner took a break for a bit.

Look for the Bullseye

When not ducking for cover,  my eye was on the look out for Castor canadensis. No luck actually seeing one but I think there is one about. Oh well,  I'll just spend more time in EB stalking the Logger.

Snow Days Remembered

Found a few misplaced rolls of 120 film a few weeks ago, so off they went to The Darkroom. Not the cheapest of places out there (any type roll $10 plus shipping), but the email stating that the film is processed and ready for online viewing, is quite nice and usually I get it within 3 days. These are not the greatest scans either, but one can always pay more to get better quality. If you are like this photographer, a scanner already sits upon the desk.

These look to be shot at Rutgers Gardens & Davidson's Mill Pond, and the date on the roll was from DEC 10. Nothing like a cold & snowy morning walk with my Mamiya Pro TL 645 in the woods. Even with all this digital stuff, this camera is always the favorite. I just might take a walk there on the next snowstorm, whenever that happens. Oh I guess an order of pull-a-part would be needed for proofing. BTW Fujifilm makes a nice instant film.
